I have to admit, that's a pretty cool way to propose if both partys are gaming developers and/or computer geeks.
Hope the answer was yes and that they spend many happy years together.

There ACTUALLY WAS an in-game wedding during the betas in LA in a high-numbered district and only ANET folk were allowed in there IIRC. That was cute. I also remember asking for in-game weddings during the beta, for a laugh.
Anyways, this story made me smile.

So in your logic breaking up on a forum would also take more guts compared to breaking up in person? I think not. Looking someone in the eyes while telling/asking them something important is what makes all the difference.
But anyway, he should propose the way he wants to. But ingame mariages....that's a bit too weird. I guess it depends on how far you want to take the roleplaying.

This reminds me of the video clips where the guy proposes at a baseball/basketball game, only to have the girl say no and run off crying.
Hopefully this went better than that.

Girl's don't like that kind of stuff. They want something creative and something they can call their own.
If you ask a girl to marry her just like anyone else would its going to come back to bite you.

No because breaking up could cause a negative repsone in the other person... even if she said no.. it would be him hurting. Breaking up would do the opposite.. it's like the reverse.. so it's your logic that doesn't really work.

I knew I was going to regret not posting this in the OP...but here's Gaile's response to the original thread:

I believe the lady said "yes."
I believe, due to Sam Bragg's clever webmanship, she could only select yes.
(Sam sits in the office next to mine, and we work together every day. He's a very nice guy, and excellent to work with. Adelle is a lucky lady, just as Sam is a fortunate man. It's sweet to see them come together this holiday season, and we all wish every happiness to the both of them!)
Kudos to Sam and Adelle, and I want a piece of wedding cake!

My Redly couldn't figure out which knee to go on so he just sat indian style in the floor and held up a little crap ring he borrowed from his mom's jewelry box. It was cute, but it took me a few mins to figure out if he was being serious or not XD

Nice marriage proposal there. I just don't think that I would like to see ingame mariages in GuildWars. Just the idea of marrying someone in an online game is over the top. Although, it would make room for some new titles, Advanced Marriage Contracter (3) after lets say 2.5k divorces? Grinding divorces might be a fun idea.

It's nice and novel and all that but in reality, face-to-face is always gonna' be harder. Marriage isn't about the public. It's all about the two people getting married.
I could tell a million people I wanna' marry someone but it would still be harder looking into that woman's eyes and telling here there and then, "that I love her so much, I want to marry her". Rejection is that hard to deal with. Even just the 'wrong' initial shift in body language (before she/he says yes) could tug your heart-strings in the wrong direction...
That being said, after that I would totally put it up on the web-site ! Anyways, no offense to the couple and I hope it turns out well for you guys.

You're talking about a different point. I could just as well have used a different example, maybe one more positive. I'm talking about expressing feelings face to face in general, positive or negative. And you can say what you want, but that's always going to be harder.
